I could be wrong on this but posted here as I seem to remember this being in the Ilderton Road area :?: and the only person who I think could possibly tell me is member briancreasey44, who lived in that area, over to you Brian. :) Ilderton Road Area, Vera’s Snack Bar, c1985, Ormside Street or Hatch...

Re: OLD KENT ROAD.

There you are Brian (briancreasey44) you can just about see the trains going around. :D Old Kent Road, W & S. Stamps..png Hi Ray, Yes, that’s exactly how I remember it! Judging by the chaps attire, I’d say that the picture was taken in the 60’s? The last time I visited Stamps, was probably ...

Re: Ilderton Road

Picture states, Pilgrims Way School Bus, c1970. I may be wrong on this, so assuming this is the school off Manor Grove, the road is two wide for Pilgrims or Manor so posted in Ilderton Road. :?: Ilderton Road, Pilgrims Way School Bus, c1970. Re: HORNSHAY STREET

Hi Brian, I can’t help you with the clown, but believe it or not there was only about 7 meets at New Cross, 4 or 5 in 1954 before they moved to Harringay as the New Cross track was too small. I think they returned to New Cross in the 60s when Harringay was being improved for a couple of meets. This...

Re: Grand Surrey Canal

Hi Ray, Hope you're keeping fine and dandy! Re your reply to my post, I'm wondering if the pepper mill was a little before my time? I remember the glass works on the other side of the canal... it covered quite a large area, at the Mercury Way end. I think it closed down in the early 70's. It was dem...

Re: Grand Surrey Canal

Hi All, I've always had an interest in the area around the Surrey Canal, especially where it intersected with Ilderton Road. In the early 70's, it was our playground! By then, it hadn't been used for its intended purpose for many years and had become a semi drained dump! I think I've mentioned it be...
